Charts and graphs on Mac

5 April 2007 by kristarella

I had some data from a lab that wanted to graph with two different y-axes. It’s not too difficult an idea to picture in your head, you see the data had incredibly different scales (a maximum of 70 vs. 5), but I don’t know if Excel can do it. Since I was using NeoOffice, not […]

Smultron

5 April 2007 by kristarella

When I first got my MacBook I searched for ages for a decent Text Editor. Text Edit was usable but perhaps too light-weight for wanting to edit html and such. I couldn’t find a nice, free, piece of software so I just used Text Edit and jEdit when I really felt the need for syntax […]

Blending Hearts

29 March 2007 by kristarella

I might have mentioned that I am trying to learn how to use Blender. This is my first 3D creation. The first tutorial I did was a 2D smiley and it was really just getting the hang of selecting, moving and scaling, rather than producing something pretty. I realise these hearts are not the most […]

Widgets for Linux

17 November 2006 by kristarella

ADesklets are widgets that can be used in Linux using the X-windows system. They are cute and easily customisable. This article has a nice description of how to install the calendar and weather desklets. I now have the weather forecast one up and running and configured to the way I like it. I’ve had to […]

Thursday Thirteen #34

16 November 2006 by kristarella

Before I do this, might I just say, thank goodness for over-the-counter pharmaceuticals! I didn’t think I was going to make it through the day. Now I apparently look like I’m going to collapse but I feel much better. Thirteen things I lurve about Firefox. 1. Tabbed browsing – Okay, I know that Safari, Camino […]

Grip it

15 November 2006 by kristarella

I gave up on Sound Juicer. Despite it’s funky logo and the ease and accuracy with which it detected the CD information, I eventually got it to rip songs so that Rhythmbox could import them but the files didn’t have the ID3 data (title, artist etc). So I used Grip. Grip is highly customisable and […]

Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Title Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Titles! I was a sub for @jamesxuereb.me in the Blue Flame Dragons thanks to his sprained ankle; we won first round and came fourth overall!
I did a bunch of judging and officiating, which was really good.
I didn’t place in my individual events, but had a very fun final round of kumite (sparring).
