Happy New Year – Welcome 2008!

1 January 2008 by kristarella

Well, in amongst all the end of year posts, 2007 reflections and summaries, and New Year wishes, I was too busy reading and then partying to write my own! This has been a pretty excellent holiday period for us, we’ve had some down-time, time with family and time with friends. Last night we went to […]

Going on a sailboat…

15 December 2007 by kristarella

I’m going sailing! Well, I hope I’m going sailing. I’m leading on a children’s sailing camp until Friday. There should be sailing involved, unless it really does rain all week as is predicted. It’s not getting wet that’s a problem (obviously!), but lightning and 10-20 knot winds can be. I really intended not to be […]

VectorMagic vs. Inkscape’s Bitmap Trace

24 November 2007 by kristarella

LaurenMarie’s review of her experience with VectorMagic inspired me to check VectorMagic out. Inkscape is versatile open source vector graphics software. I’ve used its bitmap trace function to convert drawings and photographs into scalable vectors, including: the tree in the header, it was originally converted from a drawing; the guy with the umbrella in this […]

Wedding things

29 August 2007 by kristarella

Last night I helped my friends with their wedding invitations. They’d seen a site that we used some ideas from and I think they’re going to be great when they’re put together. The website is TearDrop and it has some novel and cool invitation ideas. I really like what they’ve done because they’re so simple. […]

Random Monday

12 June 2007 by kristarella

The most random thing is that it’s not Monday at all. It’s Tuesday, but it feels like Monday because yesterday was a public holiday. It means that I have one less day before my first exam on Friday and I’m more reluctant to go to work because I really want to study so that I […]

Precognitive?

9 June 2007 by kristarella

Check out my previous post. I know most of it is about the trains but there are other things that happen like flooded schools (all the drainage gets blocked up and then it rains), leaking shopping centre (our local Westfield was built in a time of drought), flooded roads. I’ve never been outside in weather […]

Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Title Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Titles! I was a sub for @jamesxuereb.me in the Blue Flame Dragons thanks to his sprained ankle; we won first round and came fourth overall!
I did a bunch of judging and officiating, which was really good.
I didn’t place in my individual events, but had a very fun final round of kumite (sparring).
