Detour

24 November 2006 by kristarella

I went with Gran (maternal grandmother) to visit Nan (paternal grandmother) today. I decided to take the “quickest route” according to whereis.com. This included a couple of tolls, which was fine because we now have an E-Tag. Getting there was pretty sweet except that I missed one turn, costing us a few minutes. Getting back […]

Word of the Day

24 November 2006 by kristarella

Sycophant n. A servile self-seeker who attempts to win favour by flattering influential people. From Answers.com I always wonder what this word means. I guess it’s not used much in the circles I rotate in but it’s in movies. Today I heard it again in Batman Begins: “you sycophantic suck-ups…” Now that I know what […]

Microsoft Firefox? I don’t believe it!

23 November 2006 by kristarella

When I first read yesterday morning that Microsoft had released their own Firefox I was shocked. I was really very confused and quite worried. I thought, what about Mozilla? Microsoft could not do something better than they could. What about the name? Surely Microsoft would have to buy the name and that couldn’t go under […]

Skanky weather

22 November 2006 by kristarella

Today’s weather was skanky! It wasn’t one of those postcard blue skies, random cloud, beach-worthy warm Sydney. It was 38 degrees Celsius (that’s 100.4 F), the sky was a kind of greyer shade of brown. It was gross. Thankfully, being only Spring, the air-con in the lab hasn’t died yet so it was quite comfortable […]

Torchwood

21 November 2006 by kristarella

Warning: This post contains spoilers. Hubby and I have been watching Torchwood for a few weeks now. I quite like it. I don’t think it’s quite as good as Doctor Who. I’m also wondering how the heck Capt. Jack got off satellite 5 after the Bad Wolf brought him back to life. I thought the […]

God exists

20 November 2006 by kristarella

On Friday night at Fully SIC we looked at James 2:14-26. I love some parts of this passage, they are just such a slap in the face – sometimes to me, sometimes to others. Especially this bit: 18But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your […]

Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Title Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Titles! I was a sub for @jamesxuereb.me in the Blue Flame Dragons thanks to his sprained ankle; we won first round and came fourth overall!
I did a bunch of judging and officiating, which was really good.
I didn’t place in my individual events, but had a very fun final round of kumite (sparring).
