This camera has been sold! Thanks for your interest.
I’d like to sell my Nikon D50 dSLR camera.
I bought it new mid-2006 and I’ve never had any problems with it. It is in great condition: no marks, scratches, or dings.
Nikon D50
Photos are from the Nikon website. Mine is the same, although perhaps slightly less shiny after 4 years.
This has been a truly excellent entry-level camera (i.e., for those just starting with dSLR photography — perhaps upgrading from their point-and-shoot camera). All of the photos in my photoblog from August 2006 through to March 2010 were taken with it and I have learnt a lot about photography with this camera.
Obviously there’s more to photography than just the camera, but these are some shots I’ve taken with this camera:
Specs
The basics of this camera are:
- 6.1 MP
- Largest image size is 3008x2000px — large enough to print a photo 10in wide at full photo resolution, I have printed even larger without noticeable quality degradation
- accepts SD cards
For more technical specifications have a look at the official Nikon D50 page or Digital Photography Review for specs, a detailed review and to compare specs with other cameras.
N.B. One really excellent thing about this camera — that the current entry-level Nikons don’t have — is an inbuilt focus motor. This means that autofocus will work with older or cheaper lenses that don’t have their own AF motor.
Includes
I’m selling it with all the original accessories including strap (slightly worn), mini-USB cable, composite video cable, eye-piece cover, hot-shoe cover, original user manual, battery, battery charger and 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 Nikon lens. I’ll also throw in a 1GB SD card so you can start shooting right away.
Extras
I also have a Nikon ML-L3 infrared remote for triggering the shutter remotely and a Lowepro camera bag. It’s the Nova 2 AW (no longer on the Lowepro website), it’s reasonably similar to the Lowepro Nova 170 in Burgundy, and includes the all weather cover. The bag fits camera with lens attached, 2 extra lenses (or 1 extra lens & one flash unit, or 1 extra lens and the battery charger), and extras (cables, remotes, memory cards, filters etc).
Price
- Original camera kit: $300 ono
- With camera bag, remote and extra SD card: $400 ono
