Ubuntu

29 October 2006 by kristarella

On Friday the new versions of Ubuntu and their related projects came out. So on Saturday Hubby and I went to task updating to Edgy Eft, but instead of installing Kubuntu we decided this time to go for Ubuntu. The main difference as far as I’m concerned is that Ubuntu uses the Gnome desktop environment […]

25 October 2006 by kristarella

Technology seems to hate me. I was getting mega spam on my photoblog so I tried to implement an anti-spam thing but it didn’t work; I got spam but couldn’t get any other comment . I tried a different anti-spam thing, which I thought was working but actually I can’t get comments at all. I […]

CUPS and Gutenprint

21 October 2006 by kristarella

We bought new ink for the printer today so I decided it would be a good idea to have another crack at installing the printer on Kubuntu. I used the printer wizard and it wouldn’t install the driver, so I tried in administrator mode; that didn’t work either. I downloaded the source for Gutenprint (a […]

Cyberworld

17 October 2006 by kristarella

This guy, David Storey, works (when he leaves the basement) with my husband, they were in the same office until the computer science people moved buildings. There was a bit of talk when he bought the virtual island on Planet Calypso in Entropia Universe. I wondered where he got the money as a PhD student […]

Foogoogled

14 October 2006 by kristarella

As soon as I added http://blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2 to my Options > Writing > Update Services in WordPress I got all […]

Scanning on KDE

14 October 2006 by kristarella

My li’l bro just asked me to scan him a page in my kids cookbook. The same page he’s been stealing the book from me for years for and the same page I asked mum to bring it back for me. The chunky chocolate cookies are excellent! I’ve stuck to the recipe and I’ve made […]

Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Title Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Titles! I was a sub for @jamesxuereb.me in the Blue Flame Dragons thanks to his sprained ankle; we won first round and came fourth overall!
I did a bunch of judging and officiating, which was really good.
I didn’t place in my individual events, but had a very fun final round of kumite (sparring).
