Thursday Thirteen #44

22 February 2007 by kristarella

For the last three Wednesday nights the Anglican Archbishop of Sydney Philip Jensen has been doing a series of talks titled “Why I am a reformed protestant evangelical Christian.” (I’m not sure if commas belong in that sentence) I thought last night’s talk was really good and I wanted to share some things that were […]

Random computer stuff

I have raved about Inkscape and GIMP before, I think they’re great graphics programs. Expensive programs might be better but for saving $300 or however much they cost, these programs are excellent. Switching to the Mac versions wasn’t entirely satisfactory. They run under X11, which doesn’t use the apple key and has a click-to-focus action […]

I’m late, I’m late – for a very important date

21 February 2007 by kristarella

This morning I woke up my husband after he’d pressed the snooze button three times by saying, “What time do you need to be at the courthouse?” He sat half-way up with a sleepy and confused expression on his face, so I continued, “The website said you weren’t needed before Wednesday 21st, that’s today.” He […]

Not just any job

20 February 2007 by kristarella

I have something I’ve been wanting to get off my chest. A couple of weeks ago we were having a farewell lunch for a work mate. The conversation came around to Mel and her baby and whether we thought she’d go back to work when her leave was up. I mentioned that there’s a research […]

‘Tis good

20 February 2007 by kristarella

Love me a nice piece of raisin toast in the morning. Yesterday I bought “cafe style” raisin toast, the slices are fat. It’s seriously good. You only need one slice because it’s probably equivalent to two (which my “diet” allows by the way), it still fits in the toaster (just), it doesn’t get overcooked like […]

Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Title Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Titles! I was a sub for @jamesxuereb.me in the Blue Flame Dragons thanks to his sprained ankle; we won first round and came fourth overall!
I did a bunch of judging and officiating, which was really good.
I didn’t place in my individual events, but had a very fun final round of kumite (sparring).
