Rain, rain, go away, come again another day

7 June 2007 by kristarella

For a country that spends much of its time in drought rain is almost like a natural disaster.

“The next train on platform 1 stops at Turramurra, Pymple, Gordon… The next train on platform 1 stops at Normanhurst, Thornleigh, Pennant Hills… Customers waiting for the North Shore express service, this train is now departing from platform 2.”
At this point I might mention that platform 1 and 2 are separated by train tracks. Now on platform 2:
“Attention customers waiting for the 8:19 express train, this train is delayed due to a freight train accident. Customers for the Northern line this train is now departing on platform 1.”
Waiting for the North Shore train (after realising well before the announcement that our beloved 8:19 train wasn’t coming) I noticed that the LED sign on our platform stopped listing stations and the one on Platform 1 started listing them.
“Attention customers on platform 2 waiting for the North Shore express service this train is now departing from platform 1.”

So there it was another trip up and down the stairs and not a chance to read or write anything on the train trip since we had to stand the whole way.

My jeans are wet. My socks are wet. I’m tired. I was late to work. I have two reports due tomorrow and a meeting tonight that I don’t have a good way of getting to yet. Wish me luck!
