Woah! What a weekend!
I headed up to Mum’s on the 8:50am train to Warnevale on Friday morning. We cooked and prepared things all day. Being the chefs of the hour we did manage to make ourselves some yummy lunch of ham, cheese and parsley quiches and panckakes with spinach dip, topped with cheese. Delicious!
Saturday morning was a busy one too with setting up the tables and chairs and drinks and food and blowing up 50 balloons with helium. The party started at 2 so at 1 I took a shower, did my make-up, got dressed and all that. We have a branch of relatives (one of Mum’s sisters and her family) who are chronically late to everything. They told us they were going to get there at 12 – they rocked up right on 2! Before I was even ready! I could hear Dad making a fuss about how they were on time and all I could think was “Please don’t rush up the stairs to find me without a shirt on!”
Things started well, the family crew and a few friends from church rolled in. We ate, we drank, we hung out. There was somewhat of an exodus from 4-5, which was expected, I was also expecting a second roll in that didn’t happen until about 6. It did happen though and we had, well I had a nice time and other people say they did too.
It would be a bit gross to list all the presents I received but of things that have come in useful (or just nice) already I’ve worn the necklace that my mother-in-law and folks gave me quite a bit, and I wore a bracelet from my relos for the duration of my party. I got the extra links taken out of the watch that my mum and dad gave me and it’s sooo nice to wear a watch again, have the weight around my wrist and not to have to dig my phone out all the time for the time. We were a bit slow last week and didn’t get around to finishing the dishes, so the mug that Lauren gave me was a welcome asset to my need for tea. I took my new duffel bag to karate last night, a new bag for a newly graded blue belt. 🙂 I’ve been wearing the Peter Alexander pyjamas Amy gave me since last week… they’ll probably need washing soon. 😛 Hubby gave me The Singing Butler, the painting that I mentioned a little while ago. Apparently three people wanted to give it to me, luckily they communicated with each other.
Next on the agenda: thankyou notes 😛
On Sunday I came down with my bosses cold which is why I didn’t drop your birthday parcel in…I can’t believe we headed off to your party without your present duh! I will get Erns to drop it off after work this week…if you are home! It’s weird living so close and yet never seeing each other!
