What’s the opposite of disappointing?

11 February 2007 by kristarella

Overall this weekend was pretty sweet. I made the orange and poppy seed cake for the wedding arvo tea. It was really yummy! Wouldn’t you know it, I doubled the recipe and had enough of everything except flour; I was exactly one cup short. I had to dash out to the supermarket on Saturday morning, lucky we’d gotten up on time.

The wedding was really nice, I think it was the best I’d been to. Except for my own of course! The afternoon tea was such a rush when everyone came out, everyone was dying of heat and needed cold drinks. I got an early mark to go home before the reception because I had a headache. It was such a gift, I took a shower and changed because it was so humid and I was really sweaty; I don’t think I would have coped the rest of the night without it. The wedding and the reception were really great but I was a bit sad toward the end because hubby said he’d dance with me, but he never did. I understand why. The first dance song was cool and was just for the bride and groom, then the bridal party joined in. Then there was a slowish U2 song which was good for dancing. After that it was all over, there wasn’t another partner-dancing song, unless Love Is In The Air counts, but we didn’t dance to that. The music was pretty good to listen to, just not my dancing style (I’m kind of over shaking my bum and waving my arms around).

I got a small gift for helping with morning tea – aromatherapy lip gloss. It was actually quite personal because Claire (the bride) knows I love lip gloss. 🙂

Today was pretty good as well. We got a bit of a sleep-in, but we also got up in time to make decent use of the day. Hubby helped his parents transfer things onto their new computers (they’re divorced, but coincidentally bought new computers at exactly the same time!). We watched the last two episodes of JAG… ever. It was a good end to the series, which we’ve watched from beginning to end over the last few months – ten seasons. Despite the nice end and exactly what I wanted to happen did – Harm and Mac announced they were getting married – it was a bit sad because we’ve been watching the show so much, in a way you invest a portion of your emotions into the characters of a show like that. Especially when it runs for ten seasons, you’ve watched eight to ten years of those characters lives. To see it end is to face the unknown – what are we going to watch next?! Stargate SG-1 will be ending soon too, we’ll miss those programs. I hope Dr Who comes back on soon!

Band went fairly well at church and we had enough food left over from the afternoon tea to have for supper at church so that was easy. Sadly, we learned today that two of our friends will be leaving our church. It’s sad because its very sudden for us and I haven’t seen that much of them recently, I will see them even less now. It was also disappointing because one of them was to be playing bass in our band (thus the reason we were told about their departure).

My friend had a baby on Friday! He’s a big’un, 9 pounds 3 ounces. We knew he would be big, he was to be due from 38 weeks but he was induced at 41 weeks! So cool is that it’s a boy! I think everyone was hoping for a girl, or they all thought it would be a girl; my friend’s mother even bought dresses. I didn’t say much on that topic because I thought it would be a boy. It was – haha! With any luck they’ll have another baby in a year or two that’s a girl and they won’t be wishing for a girl. I’m going to visit them in the hospital tomorrow. 😀

It’s our two year wedding anniversary tomorrow. Hopefully (I haven’t booked yet because I couldn’t decide on dinner for Monday or Tuesday) we’ll be having lunch tomorrow (yeah I know I just said dinner, but most restaurants aren’t open on Monday night and I wanted to go out on the day).

Hope y’all had a great weekend!

I did a bunch of judging and officiating, which was really good.
I didn’t place in my individual events, but had a very fun final round of kumite (sparring).
