Lovely

This afternoon we had lunch at Newport Arms for my grandmother-in-laws birthday. It was so good! Those folks sure know how to do a good meal. I had beer-battered flathead and chips. So much for my diet this weekend with three birthday events! Oh well, back on it tomorrow.

I just watched Meet Me In St Louis. I finally have the DVD after having it on order for a month or two. Such a lovely movie! I like Judy Garland, although watching her always makes me a little sad to think of interview footage that I’ve seen of her looking gaunt and to know that her acting career was made and ended on pills. They made her take weight loss pills to be Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz and she became addicted to barbiturates, dying from an overdose at 47. Hmm, trust me to spoil the afterthoughts of a beautiful movie… I think Meet Me In St Louis is one of my long lost favourites. 🙂
