Dali

17 November 2006 by kristarella

I realised that I haven’t posted much about myself lately. I’ve posted a lot about events (work mostly), and abut my computer but I thought I’d post some random things about me that you may not know. They’ll be in the “Me Stuff” category.

For some time my favourite artist was Salvador Dali. He was a very talented artist with a vivid imagination. A lot of his work, especially his sketches, are fairly crude. I don’t mind them though; I admire artists that use their art to express themselves. Often this involves putting on paper what you do not put in to words, perhaps so that you or someone else can then put it into words. Another example of this kind of art might be Frida Kahlo, who was somewhat obsessed with the female anatomy probably due to her miscarriages. Her work brought such women’s issues into the open to be discussed.

I prefer Dali’s paintings. His Persistence of Memory is certainly intriguing and throughout his works there are symbols (ants, eggs) representing various things. My favourite is Gala of the Spheres, or Atomic Gala.
