Rain, rain on my… carpet?

29 July 2006 by kristarella

Hi Honey! You’ll never guess what happened to me today…

The hose that puts the water from the washing machine to the sink fell to the floor and flooded the laundry and the carpet outside the laundry. Why? Well, the rubber band helping to hold the hose in place decided it didn’t want to do its job anymore. “Mum can I go out and play?”
“No dear, the washing machine is running, we need you.” But do rubber bands listen these day?

I took a photo of the mess which I might post later, when I did hubby told be to “do something useful”. Obviously it doesn’t apply to him but I found it useful to be good humoured about the whole thing. Truly, I am the queen of bugs (up bums that is), I can worry until the cows come home and usually it is hubby that keeps a brave face and tries to cheer me up. Tonight he got all buggy. I found some towels to try to soak up some of the water and when I said they needed to be taken outside to wring them out the response was “Okay, you go outside and wring them out then.” Sure, I’ll just go outside and wring out the saturated beach towels with my She-ra sized arm muscles! I reckon I’ll have he-woman like arms by Monday because my shoulders and arms ache! I should challenge Yvonne at work to another arm wrestle!

We (hubby) managed to scavenge some towels and a heater from his mother’s place so we’ve had that doing its magic while we washed and dried the towels to soak up more water from the carpet, well the washer an dryer did that, we ate dinner and watched TV ;). Hubby in the meantime has gotten rid of his bug, while I still smile at the craziness of this whole event. It reminds me of when I had chicken pox. I wouldn’t let Mum take a photo of me because I was so embarrassed at the grossness of my pox. I wish I’d let her now though! We rarely have photos of the horrible times because at the time we don’t realise how we’ll look back and laugh.

I hope we don’t get knocking on the door telling us the unit below had water damage on the ceiling. BAD!

Kristarella, thanks so much for the visit! I’m glad you enjoyed my About Me page. I think I actually saw the idea for putting screenshots of my old blog templates up somewhere else, so it’s not really my original idea necessarily. Like you, I thought it would be fun to have a record of what my blog has looked like over time.
