Darn it! That stocktaking thing that I was dreading, I don’t dread it any more, I’m downloading the safety information for the chemicals that we either don’t have info for or it’s not within 5 years. This was assigned to me by the manager of the lab. The boss of the lab has now told me to make genotyping a priority, which is fair enough but I feel a bit stressed now because the manager and the boss don’t like each other. I also feel stressed because the genotyping has not been working very well. I just put on 92 samples and put them on at the wrong temperature! They’ve been going for an hour so I can’t really change them, it should work anyway but if they don’t I won’t know if it was the temp or if they’re just bad because they’ve been bad before. “What the heck is she talking about?” You might be asking… this site explains it.
I think I need a plan.
1. Go to the toilet.
2. Prepare some more PCR samples to put on when the current ones finish.
3. Depending on whether the samples are finished either run them on a gel, or make up another gel because they won’t all fit on one.
4. Somewhere in amongst these things get some peppermint tea and download more safety info.
