Update: It’s the thought that counts

16 March 2006 by kristarella

Wife status is saved! My throw together fried rice thing turned out well, if I do say so myself.

Fried Rice ala kristarella

Cook 1 1/2 cups of rice and put in fridge to cool.
Slice or chop 200g ham (or the meat of your choice).
Chop and slightly steam some brocolli (or whatever vegies are in the fridge and go with the situation).
Beat 2 eggs in a bowl.

Heat peanut oil (or your cooking oil of choice) in a wok and pour in eggs. Spread eggs around by picking up and rolling wok around so that they cook quickly and are fairly thin. Put eggs to one side.

Heat a little bit more oil (if needed) and throw in ham, toss to cook lightly. Throw in vegies, some soy sauce, some fish sauce and some mild chili. Mix thoroughly.

Stir in cooled rice. Add some sesame oil and stir fry together.

Chop the eggs into smaller pieces and stir through at the end.

Voila!

Well, that sounds easy enough. I really have a hard time finding a good wok though – I have been through 3 of them already 🙁
