My Favourite: Salvage Specialty Coffee

23 August 2013 by kristarella Leave a Comment

I adore Salvage Specialty Coffee! It’s my favourite place to drink coffee, eat breakfast, eat lunch, read, catch up with friends, and meet new friends and their dogs… and drink more coffee.

I could barely contain my excitement last year when Dan Yee told me that he and a couple of friends were opening up a cafe in Artarmon! As they gutted and remodelled the space — previously housing a cafe that was great for mums with kids, not so great for coffee snobs — my husband and I took regular walks past the shopfront to see the progress and chat to the guys if they were there. We were pleasantly surprised to find that they were going to have their grand opening at the end of January, rather than the sometime-in-February we were expecting. And what an opening it was! Wilkes Ave was packed to the brim, while coffee, beer, and a short-lived (i.e., very quickly eaten) barbeque was free!

Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Title Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Titles! I was a sub for @jamesxuereb.me in the Blue Flame Dragons thanks to his sprained ankle; we won first round and came fourth overall!
I did a bunch of judging and officiating, which was really good.
I didn’t place in my individual events, but had a very fun final round of kumite (sparring).
