Thesis 2.0 release date announced

25 September 2012 by kristarella

October 1 2012

Why yes, that is 6 days away! DIYthemes announced the release date of the new Thesis Theme for WordPress with a few teasers earlier today.

I’m pretty keen (along with many others it seems) to see what this version of Thesis will do. One of the things I’m most excited about is the ability to drag/drop your website’s page structure AND have semantic HTML come out on the front end. There have been some drag/drop themes and tools around, but I’ve always been dissatisfied with the results as far as HTML goes. I’m sure that Chris, with his appreciation of standards & semantics, has that covered.

I have no idea what this means for the Thesis development space. There has been a huge market for those more CSS and PHP savvy than the rest to customise the heck out of Thesis for clients. That market may still be there, same as ever, or it might have to shift a bit. Either way, I’m sure we’ll come up with something bril! WATCH THIS SPACE.

There seems to be a lot of people who are confused about their current license… Anyone with a license will be able to download Thesis 2.0. Folks with a development license will be able to get some extra goodies (no word on what those are yet).
The prices will be going up, so if you’re a diehard fan and really want those extra goodies, but only have a personal license, you can upgrade from a personal license to the developer license now at the current price and get the extras along with Thesis 2.0 when they’re released, or you can wait to see what they are and upgrade later at the increased price.

If you’ve been on the fence, now looks like a good time to get Thesis.

Read the official announcement and I very intrigued. I have a Thesis developers license though the new per site fee is a bit difficult to swallow. I understand the need to pay the bills though a fee per site seems too restrictive.

David — What per site fee do you mean? Client licenses have been around for a long time: they’re only for sites that aren’t yours, so generally if you were building a site for a client you would pass on that fee to them.

WordPress will be like google in a couple of years, well not that big but bigger than it is TODAY.

Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Title Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Titles! I was a sub for @jamesxuereb.me in the Blue Flame Dragons thanks to his sprained ankle; we won first round and came fourth overall!
I did a bunch of judging and officiating, which was really good.
I didn’t place in my individual events, but had a very fun final round of kumite (sparring).
