Movember is on!

1 November 2008 by kristarella

Hey crew,

Hope you had a good Halloween, or lack there of (as I did). Just a short note to say w00t! I handed in my thesis yesterday. I am now free to do stuff I enjoy, plus some cooking and cleaning and real life stuff. Sweet.

Also, last month was Breast Cancer Awareness month. This month is Movember for men’s health. Mat Packer has shaved off his enormous beard to grow a moustache and raise some money, and raise some awareness of men’s health issues… that’s right, they’re not as unbreakable as we all like to pretend.

Have a great Movember! Good luck with the election America!

dinu, I’m not sure how many years Movember has been going, but I think it’s building momentum.

Jye, good on you! Good luck 😉

Thanks Caity and suzanne, I’m a little relieved, but I still have to go through an interview/defence type thing, which I’m not looking forward to!

Participating in Movember is making me realize just how slow my facial hair grows — which is great as it cuts down on shaving, but not so great for an event such as this. 🙂

Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Title Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Titles! I was a sub for @jamesxuereb.me in the Blue Flame Dragons thanks to his sprained ankle; we won first round and came fourth overall!
I did a bunch of judging and officiating, which was really good.
I didn’t place in my individual events, but had a very fun final round of kumite (sparring).
