2 buses and an afro

19 March 2008 by kristarella

The last couple of days have been curious.

Yesterday our local train station was a mad house with everyone being redirected from a whole line after a bus ran onto the train tracks!

That might not seem very remarkable to those of you who live with ground level railway tracks. I noticed when I was in California that the Caltrain runs next to the street and there’s quite a few railway crossings for cars and pedestrians. That’s not the case in Sydney, most of the train tracks are carved down into the land or raised above street level and there are very large fences stopping you from going anywhere near the tracks. If you need to cross the tracks there’s generally a bridge going over them.

So a bus crashing onto the tracks is actually quite a feat.

This morning we were happily (or rather sleepily actually) to uni on the bus and there was a sudden jolt. At first I thought the engine had conked out, or the air conditioner blew up. It turned out to be a car crashing into the back of the bus.

Note that we were stopping at a red light, not particularly suddenly…

Before the back-ending bus incident I was walking amongst a crowd of people and saw some hair sticking up. I thought it was pretty cool. 😉

I did a bunch of judging and officiating, which was really good.
I didn’t place in my individual events, but had a very fun final round of kumite (sparring).
