Jumping through hoops

1 June 2007 by kristarella

I met with Mike on Wednesday to see if he’d let me do the lab project next semester. He was somewhat reluctant since I have a 73.75 average in BABS course, not the required 75. He said to go ahead and find a supervisor and he would wait to make a decision until he’d talked to some people and possibly until this semester’s marks come out.
I sent an email to Rick my Micro tutor and potential supervisor for the project telling him the above things. I asked him today if he’d received it, which he hadn’t because it had gone into the junk folder. When he read it he said that it was fine, if I had to take the time to “jump through their hoops” it wouldn’t be hard to find me a project if they decide to let me do it. That made me feel better – he thinks they’re putting up hoops, it’s not that I’m not good enough to do an independent learning project.

Other apparent hoops were encountered today when I tried to put my timesheets in. I forgot to put them in two weeks ago so I was putting them in for the last month. When I went upstairs it turned out that the people who sign them had moved. I went to where they used to be and one girl was there, but Irena wasn’t. Irena is the person who used to be the person in charge of my timesheets, I don’t know if she still is in charge of them. I eventually found where her office has moved to and left them on her desk (I took copies, don’t worry). I find it doubtful that they’ll get from the hospital to the uni in time for me to get paid. They have surprised me before, but not often.

I did a bunch of judging and officiating, which was really good.
I didn’t place in my individual events, but had a very fun final round of kumite (sparring).
