Busy weekend ahead

8 February 2007 by kristarella

Tonight I need to do a whole lot of dishes.

Tomorrow I’m going to have lunch with work folks because one is finishing tomorrow before heading to the US ( I work 40-50km away it’s not too easy to just pop to work for lunch). Then I’ll go to hubby’s uni to pick up my MacBook (assuming it arrives on time). Maybe before lunch I will bake a cake for a wedding afternoon tea on Saturday, if I don’t do it before I go out I’ll do it when I get home.

Saturday we have to get ready for the wedding then head over to the church. I’ll be setting up (not alone) for the afternoon tea. I wonder if it will be weird having the tables out before people arrive… too bad, we can’t miss the whole wedding of our good friends to set up food and tables. Hubby is doing the music so he’ll be setting up and practising for that. I have to take with me a table cloth, coffee plungers, chocolate frosting in case the Sara Lee brownie cake needs icing, and my big plastic storage container (currently full of photo albums) to make punch in. After the wedding and afternoon tea is the reception. I hope I’ll get to take some photos at some point.

On Sunday we have the morning off. At church we’re on band, I’m doing the prayers, and our bible study group is on supper. Hopefully there will be enough stuff left over from the wedding to not worry about buying things for Sunday night. This term’s church roster is a bit hectic for me; I’m on something nearly every week, sometimes two or three things a week including band, bible readings, and prayers, then there’s our whole group on supper a couple of times. Poor Ali and Rich; Rich is a musician so they’re often away from church on tour or playing a gig, it seems like every time they are at church our group is on supper!

So, I’m sure you’ll forgive me if I don’t post regularly over the next few days. 😛 You never know, I might squeeze it in. I’ll probably have to announce the arrival of my MacBook, at least.

I went to the shops today to have coffee with Mum and Gran (I didn’t realise how much I miss mum until she had to go and I was giving her a hug goodbye). Afterwards I was heading to the supermarket to buy oranges and poppy seeds for the cake when I saw a shop with pretty dresses (La Voca). I tried one on with the intention of wearing it to the wedding on Saturday, but it didn’t fit. I went into another shop but the dresses were new stock and they were too expensive (pretty though). So I went into Target and tried on about four tops, I picked up 14s and 16s because they were button up and the dress that didn’t fit was a 14, but I ended up buying two tops in size 12! I went back to La Voca and bought a gorgeous skirt that I’ve admired for months, which was half price. It’s a black skirt with white/cream swirly stitching. One of the tops I bought was white with dark stripes. They look good together! I also got a necklace that was only six bucks! It’s one of those long ones that you can double over, I’ve never had such a long one before. Anyway, I’m glad I have new clothes for the wedding. 🙂 Lucky we bought aprons for serving the afternoon tea. Now… if only I knew how to do my hair.

I did a bunch of judging and officiating, which was really good.
I didn’t place in my individual events, but had a very fun final round of kumite (sparring).
