At lunch time yesterday I got my things out to prepare my lunch and discovered that my fork is gone! I was highly annoyed because I hate using the communal things in the tearoom and I know there’s a bit of a disappearing teaspoon problem but not forks! It was one from my set at home so I didn’t really want to lose it. If it was a cheap one I’d randomly bought like the bowl or cup I wouldn’t be quite as upset. I’ve brought another fork today, I’m going to try to stick my name to it.

When I turned on my computer last night my mouse wasn’t working, it wasn’t getting any power to it. I thought it had finally died after some previous problems with it. Hubby’s mouse didn’t work either though so I restarted and it worked again. I guess maybe my whole usb thing (is the main one called a hub or are they just extension hubs) wasn’t getting power.

My friends had a baby last week, his name is Liam, which I think is a fine name. Sadly he has a condition called Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA). In this condition the two major arteries leaving the heart are switched around such that the pulmonary artery sends blood that’s just come in from the lungs back to the lungs, and the blood from the body goes back to the body without getting oxygen from the lungs. Thankfully he has a septal defect (hole in the heart), which would normally be a bad thing but in this case it means some of the oxygenated blood crosses over to the other side of the heart and into the rest of his body. He was going to have heart surgery yesterday but he’s stable so they’re waiting until next week when he’s a bit bigger. It’s a bit sad and I nearly cried about it today but it’s so excellent that he’s doing so well under potentially fatal conditions. If you’re praying for him and his parents keep doing so!

It’s so hard to know the right thing to say when a friend has a baby that was born with a significant condition. I know they on one hand still feel grateful and blessed, but I had a friend go through a similiar bittersweet delivery. As if the responsibilities of a healthy baby aren’t harrowing enough. My thoughts are with them.

Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Title Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Titles! I was a sub for @jamesxuereb.me in the Blue Flame Dragons thanks to his sprained ankle; we won first round and came fourth overall!
I did a bunch of judging and officiating, which was really good.
I didn’t place in my individual events, but had a very fun final round of kumite (sparring).
