Sadness

9 November 2006 by kristarella

It feels like I’ve gotten less visitors to this blog lately, which makes me a bit sad. My stats seem to show about 20 people everyday for at least the last week and it hasn’t fluctuated a lot so I guess that’s good. I wonder why no one comments. [Update: I think WordPress isn’t as diligent in sending emails about comments because I’ve had a few that I didn’t realise were there 🙁 ]I definitely have had less people [read “no one”] at my photoblog. I’ll have to do something about that. I suppose it didn’t help that I stopped posting there for about a week.

I noticed a man at the station today. He’s there everyday because he works there. He works in a luggage shop that sells of random things like clothes, hats and umbrellas, next to a “cafe” where the City Rail employees frequent and right near the stairs that I come down from the platforms to get to the buses. I think he’s worked at that shop the whole time I’ve been going to Central, about three years. The reason I noticed him today was because he looked so sad. He was sitting outside in one of the cafe chairs, next to a post opposite the entrance to the shop so he could see in. He has put on a lot of weight in the last year, possibly in less time than that. He’s grown a goatie, which looked to be neatly trimmed from where I stood, that’s something at least. He just looked so bored… people often think that I look sad when really I’m just thinking, or blank, but I think he looked sad. I realised that he works there everyday of the week and he’s usually by himself. The thought of going to work doesn’t excite me very much but I do it because I need to and I cope with it because I work with really nice people. I realised today that he spends most of his days alone with very few customers. No one should have to be alone. I feel sad for that man who looked sad this morning.

I think it probably has something to do with the vast number of “other blogs” out there. It’s almost like we’re all slowly submerging into the dark abyss of indifference.

Apologies for not posting on your blog. I do read it regularly, but I subscribe to the XML feed, so that might not appear on your stats.

    Owl. 🙂

Hehe, thanks Owl. I apologise for falling behind on your blog! I finished up September today and then hopefully tomorrow I’ll get up to where my RSS reader is (in October I expect) and then I’ll be up to date!
I think you’re right about there being so many blogs to read.

I did a bunch of judging and officiating, which was really good.
I didn’t place in my individual events, but had a very fun final round of kumite (sparring).
