Thursday Thirteen #20

20 July 2006 by kristarella

Woops! Was so busy last Thursday that I missed TT all together! I’m not going to do two this week to catch up, I shall just hold my head up and carry on 😉

Thirteen favourite music moments from Buffy
I only got up to season four last time I did this one so I’ll do the rest of the series.

1. I Can’t Take My Eyes Off You by Melanie Doane – Tara and Willow dance after the scoobies stick up against Tara’s family trying to take her to their home (claiming she’s a demon).

2. Everybody Got Their Something by Nikka Costa – this song actually plays on their stereo while they dance in Buffy’s house for Xander and Anya’s engagement party.

3. Goodbye To You by Michelle Branch – Tara moves out because Willow won’t stop messing with the magicks and Buffy and Spike kiss, again.

4. Black Cat Bone by Laika – Not sure exactly when this song plays but I like the song. The episode is pretty intense, Willow leaves Dawn waiting while she doses up on magick while Buffy and Spike wreck a house…

5. That Kind of Love by Alison Krauss – plays as Xander then Buffy walk away from the Magic Box after they all hurt each other (Anya slept with Spike, Xander discovers Buffy was sleeping with him as well)

6. Displaced by Azure Ray – after Xander and Buffy fight about Spike

7. Prayer of St Francis by Sarah McLachlan – the emotional conclusion of the season after Willow tries to destroy the world to cure it of its pain.

8. Of course the whole Once More With Feeling episode is excellent! My favourites from that are Going Through The Motions, I’ve Got a Theory, I’ll Never Tell, Rest In Peace, Under Your Spell/Standing (reprise) and Walk Through The Fire.

9. Blue by Angie Hart – plays in Conversations With Dead People when The First officially starts messing with the scoobies.

10. This Is How It Goes by Aimee Mann – Spike broods at the Bronze with his new soul.

11. Pavlov’s Bell by Aimee Mann – Spike fights with a vampire at the Bronze that claims he made her. There is an awesome climax in the song as he stakes the vampire and then music stops as she conbusts on the floor, everyone just stares until the band starts playing right where they left off. Later Aimme Mann gets a one-liner “Man, I hate playing vampire towns.”

12. It’s Only Love by Heather Nova – Spike comforts Buffy after she’s kicked out by all the girls.

13. Chosen aka The Final Fight – accompanies the creation of Slayers from all the potentials all around the world, as well as the final battle and final episode of a fantastic show.

Great list. I usually didn’t pay much attention to the music, but I love the Prayer of St. Francis (always have) and just loved that it was included in the show!

    My TT is up, too.

I did a bunch of judging and officiating, which was really good.
I didn’t place in my individual events, but had a very fun final round of kumite (sparring).
