Thursday Thirteen

8 June 2006 by kristarella

Thirteen things about the end of the uni semester.

1. The last class of the semester was my last class for the year because I’m taking a break next semester.

2. I didn’t even realise it was the last class until the lecturer started getting all romantic in passing his wisdom on to us. He says our job is to make sure that people don’t get carried away with false notions of genetics and use it as an excuse to do things like discriminate against people because of their genes.

3. I’m going to miss uni a little next semester I think. I’ll miss biochemistry and I’ll especially miss the coffee cart. I hope they don’t forget me.

4. This morning I got my ‘last’ coffee from them and I got my tenth stamp on my card so I have a free coffee coming to me next year! I’ll probably have to go to uni sometime, maybe I’ll go to have lunch with the french class girls and get a coffee then.

5. People ask me if I’ll work more next semester but really I’m taking a break so that I can take a break so I’m not sure. Next week is a bit concerning because I need to study for an exam, do the exam and attend a funeral. When will I work?

6. The end of semester is always a bit stressful because there are exams and assessments. I handed in my essay this morning, which had my name and student number on it but not the class or tutor group! It’s okay because I emailed it to my tutor as well.

7. I like exams when I’ve had enough time to study. They are very satisfying when you get to the paper and realise that you actually know things. When you haven’t and you don’t is another thing!

8. I really liked doing French this semester! I met some great people and actually had people to hang out with after class! Thanks Penny, Linda, Shona and Paula!

9. I hope medical problems don’t interfere with my exams. That would be very annoying!

10. It rained a lot for the last week of uni. My shoes and socks got very wet! It must have known it was the end and it wanted to make us miserable, or make us not miss coming to uni, or wash us away… or not 🙂

11. I need to enrol in the PTC courses I’m going to do next semester.

12. I also need to talk with hubby about organising a short holiday somewhere in the holidays.

13. The end of this semester happens to coincide with the end of the financial year. I want to find some kind of tax calculator to tell me how much I’m getting back. I could put it towards a digital SLR camera! 😀

I hope you enjoy your break. And what holiday plans are you hoping to make? I had taken a few years of French & was awful at it. I now wish, more than ever, that I had taken Spanish. I guess it’s never to late; is it?

Have fun on your break? I just started summer classes yesterday so I know what it’s like. Sorry to hear about your hectic exams; funeral, illness. I hope all goes well.

Thanks for your well wishes everyone.

Will visit those I haven’t yet sometimes today.

PixiePincessMom – I hope that we can find a place (possibly free of charge) to just get away for three or four days. Nothing extravagant, just a change of scenary. You can always find out about learning spanish!

I do think you need a break this semestral break. Indeed exams and others are very stressful. Rest from all the stress we would be very good.
    Thanks for dropping by.

Congrats on getting this semester behind you. It is kind of funny that you say “uni” – because that is how Germans say it :).
Thank you for stopping by this morning. Have a great day.

Thanks for sharing. I’ve never been to Uni so I wouldn’t know about any of those.

Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Title Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Titles! I was a sub for @jamesxuereb.me in the Blue Flame Dragons thanks to his sprained ankle; we won first round and came fourth overall!
I did a bunch of judging and officiating, which was really good.
I didn’t place in my individual events, but had a very fun final round of kumite (sparring).
