Pleasantries

17 June 2006 by kristarella

So hopefully I have more happy things to say now.

I went for a walk earlier when I didn’t feel like being inside… I think I said I was going to lie down and didn’t want to tidy but actually I did the dishes and tidied the kitchen and then I went out for a walk. I took the camera and took some photos which was good fun. I watched some birds at the park in front of the swimming pool after I took some photos of a rock water fountain. I also took photos of this building, it’s quite abandoned, the front of it is in tact but you can see through the windows that it doesn’t have a roof! I also took photos of my feet walking, I might try to make a sort of series with them. I also checked out a shoe shop that was having a sale. I bought some vegies at the fruit market for dinner tonight. We’re having lamb roast! I’m pretty excitied, I can smell it cooking… YUM! I also bought a can of lychees, a can of coconut milk, some jelly crystals and a box of prawn gow gees. It was such a beautiful sunny day! I was great to go out with my iPod and enjoy some time, sun and music.

I steamed the gow gees and we ate them and watched an old episode of Stargate, the one where they first meet the destroyer of worlds.

It was so nice at Fully SIC last night. I sat/lay in on the bible study despite my little falling episode and it was pretty good although we were talking about sex a bit so naturally that lent itself to lots of giggling. Anyway the nice bit was that after drinking a lot of water to try to fix myself I had to pee but Nat was worried I’d collapse or something so after I’d left the room she was thinking of making sure I was okay, I guess she made a getting up movement or something and one of the girls jumped up and said she would. So she was walking in the door as I was walking out and she asked me if I was okay and put her arm around me. It was really nice and we walked back to the study. The last few weeks I’ve felt really loved and appreciated by the girls and it’s a great reward to know that they appreciate us as people as well as whatever else we are, entertainment on a Friday night. It’s good because they might actaully remember some of the stuff we try to teach them. Plus if they like us then we must be nice to them and so we might be partly fulfulling our role of loving them like Christ does.

We had seven girls last night! It was only two more than the number on our ‘regulars’ list but it was great – actually more girls than leaders for once! We also have a knew girl and a couple of returning-after-not-being-there girls which is really good. I really need to call and see if one of our other girls wants to come back. I think that she hasn’t made it all of this year. I still consider her a part of the group though, the years go by so quickly. I hope she wants to/can come back.

I can’t believe the karate tournament is tomorrow! It starts at nine so I should have heaps of time to practice and warm up before my event. I’m the lowest grade bracket but I’m in the 16-20 year olds and there’s a lot of younger people. I don’t know how they organise the day though. Chance could have it that I’m unhappily first. Hubby predicts I’ll be around lunch time though which is ideal really, there’s time to warm up and practice as well as watch others and know how to do all the ceremonial stuff, but not have to wait until the end of the day.

It reminds me of a song by Harry Connick Jr. “I’m walkin’, yes indeed, I’m talkin’…”

I’m going to open a bottle of wine to go with dinner.

It appears my spell checker isn’t working 🙁 It says “no spelling errors found” but I typed jibberish to check and it didn’t pick them up. No biggie. It made me read through my post before I published it 😛

I didn’t place in my individual events, but had a very fun final round of kumite (sparring).
