Hilarious!

19 June 2006 by kristarella

Last night at church the sermon was on Colossians 3:18-4:1. So there was a lot of talk about marriage, wives submitting, husbands loving and humorous things were said. For example, to men, “there’s no need to be a macho nong”, and about a man really caring for a woman, “does he suggest you pray together and read the bible together, does he listen to you, or does he just want to hang you off his arm like some show-pony show-bag…” That one was really funny because he meant to say handbag but got too excited with the metaphores.
There were a few questions afterwards about submission and various things. One of our youth group guys asked “What if a husband is an incompetant leader?” which was sort of funny but very relevant. The answer included the wife gently suggesting that he learn more about certain things or try certain things, like reading books on those topics he’s not so good at or whatever.

The sermon was actually really good. The funny things made the atmosphere nice and I think people were receptive to the message.

After Pop’s funeral last week we went to the RSL for lunch and drinks. I asked Mum why she used my maiden name in the service sheet. I assumed she’d done it on purpose so as not to confuse the old people or something. She was horrified when I asked. She hadn’t realised at all. It was really funny. The look on Mum’s face was priceless… I’ve only been married for over a year! Anyway, it wasn’t a problem, I didn’t mind. No one can say my last name anyway. It has a Y in it that should be pronounced as “I” but nearly everyone says “ee”.

I did a bunch of judging and officiating, which was really good.
I didn’t place in my individual events, but had a very fun final round of kumite (sparring).
