Sydney Childrens’ Hospital

31 May 2006 by kristarella

Today people were running around in front of the library in their pyjamas. They were collecting money for the Sydney Childrens’ Hospital. So as I was passing with my coffee I put in a couple of bucks. I got the girl with the bucket to hold my coffee as I got my wallet out. She was very happy to do so because my coffee was warm and she was cold.

Sometimes I wonder why people don’t collect money for adults. Sure people collect money for cancer research and all that but that money is not spent directly on care. It’s spent on trying to find better ways to treat and care. What we really need is someone to gt off their arse and get a better public health system or a cheaper private one.

Did you know that you have to pay for ambulances? I didn’t. My two friends who are doctors in hospitals didn’t’ know either. Hubby says it’s one of those social contract type things where they don’t tell you because they expect you to know. I’m not complaining, I was just surprised when I got a bill in the mail. I was going to take it to Medicare and see if they would pay for it until I read it properly and it said “This is not covered by Medicare”.
