Thursday Thirteen

30 March 2006 by kristarella

Thirteen of my most used computer software or websites.

1. Firefox – the excellent web browser.

2. WordPress – so far a much more reliable blogging tool than Blogger, if only I could find a good spell checker!

3. Bloglines – an easy to use RSS feed subscriber for those who love to read blogs but can’t find the time to sift through all your bookmarks.

4. FileZilla – FTP client used to upload all the files needed to run my blog and website onto the server.

5. Adobe Photoshop – image editing software, I like it alot!

6. The Gimp – good free image manipulation software. Doesn’t have all of the filters that expensive programs have but it has a good interface and had many of the features that photoshop and others have. Plus if you are a computer guru you can probably write your own features into it.

7. Gmail – I love this email server!

8. Set – a nice site for some mind excercise or fun or procrastination or all three.

9. Blog Explosion – tool for bloggers to get their site seen and to see other blogs. I like the “Rent My Blog” feature the best.

10. Blog Mad – I prefer Blog Mad to BE for blog stuff and viewing blogs etc but BE is the ones with the renting blog system which I find a lot of fun.

11. WordPad – comes free with windows and is a far superior text editor to Notepad.

12. Google Talk – to be used with a Gmail account. It’s a good IM tool, mostly I only talk to my bro, or my hubby. It doesn’t have all that fancy stuff that MSN Messenger has but I found that stuff fairly annoying anyway.

13. CDex – totally awesome CD ripping software, an easy way to turn your CDs into mp3s for your portable players. It’s a no-fuss program that has an extensive CBBD database, if you have the CD chances are you won’t have to enter in all the information, you can retrieve it with the click of a button.

I use most of the things you have listed (totally have to agree on Firefox ). But I use Paint Shop Pro and Photo Impact for all my photo editing; and it use SmartFTP for my up-loads (also a free FTP program ). Great list Kristarella. I’ll link your right away…Mine won’t be up until later tonight, or actually early morning, so I will be back in the morning .

Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Title Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Titles! I was a sub for @jamesxuereb.me in the Blue Flame Dragons thanks to his sprained ankle; we won first round and came fourth overall!
I did a bunch of judging and officiating, which was really good.
I didn’t place in my individual events, but had a very fun final round of kumite (sparring).
