Quickie before work

22 February 2006 by kristarella

Yep, I’m about to leave for work…

When I see a really excellent design on a blog it is often done by a professional. I usually go check out their site and prices and portfolio. I always think “Woof, that’s expensive!” I have been thinking more about it though and it can take from one to three hours (I imagine that would be typical) depending on how complex it is and where you are starting from to make a blog template and if you are charging $30-60 per template then that’s about $10-20 an hour. So really it’s quite reasonable. Unless it was very much a hobby, you wouldn’t want to charge less and if you charged less for awesome designs everyone would come and you’d have to make so many it wouldn’t count as a hobby anymore and you’d probably need to up the prices for your time.

Got to go.
