I was so upset this evening. I was looking forward to going to talks by Peter Jensen at the Abbotsleigh school hall tonight with my bible study group and heaps of other people. We were sitting there, we had seats all together. My hubby seemed to be making a big deal about there being enough seats for all of our people to sit together which was very considerate of him, although it did strike me as a little strange at the time – perhaps I felt he was making too big a deal out of it. At some point an overpowering old-lady-perfume smell came about. It sort of smelled like pot-purri. Then my nose started running, I started sneezing, my eyes started itching. Just as Jensen was about to start speaking I decided I couldn’t bear it for the next hour; I wanted to rip my head off! So I moved far down the front of the hall. There was a perfume smell there too but my nose dried up so I guess whatever I was allergic to wasn’t in that woman’s perfume.
It makes me so angry! How inconsiderate to have such overpowering perfume that it causes someone to have to move! Perfume (or aftershave or deodorant on men) can be great in small amounts when it’s noticable in close proximity to someone. When it’s strong enough to make my head want to explode it’s just rude!
