Now with 5% real fruit juice!

16 January 2006 by kristarella

Sometimes of an evening I can get very thirsty and water just won’t suffice; I need some sugar replenishment as well. Often this will be done with fruit juice, sometimes with soda. Last night, as there was no juice in the fridge and the only sugary drink was Fanta, that’s what I had. I didn’t enjoy it though. Fanta are advertising that they now make their drinks with 5% real fruit juice, but to be quite honest I think it’s yucky! If I’m going to drink an orange fizzy drink I expect it to taste a certain way, usually this involves being artificially sweet and Fanta just doesn’t have that anymore. If I wanted to be healthy I would drink water, if I wanted to drink juice I would drink juice. So just what are they trying to achieve?!

Over the years I have gotten very used to drinking water. However when I am my most thirsty I always find that water simply does not do the job. What is that about, anyway?

I heard once that by the time you are actually thirsty, you are a little dehydrated, it would probably have been better to drink water before hand. Whether that is true or not I suspect that when we are thristy we have used up not only our water but also our sugars and salts etc. Maybe thirst for more than just H2O.

Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Title Had a great Saturday at the GKR Karate State Titles! I was a sub for @jamesxuereb.me in the Blue Flame Dragons thanks to his sprained ankle; we won first round and came fourth overall!
I did a bunch of judging and officiating, which was really good.
I didn’t place in my individual events, but had a very fun final round of kumite (sparring).
